MY SOLO TRIP TO THE KRUGER PARK

A few days at Pretoriuskop Rest Camp in the Kruger Park
Impala

Elephants, both big and small excitedly running towards a watering hole
This one paused for a second or two to sniff me and my car (I was the only one there which made the sighting extra special

Sunrise in the Kruger - nothing compares

The bush was so very dry - the drought this year has been harsh and now in the dry season the vegetation is scarce

A hyena suckling her cub whilst its sibling looks on
Eventually he realized he was not going to get any attention so had to amuse himself.  He was very curious about my vehicle and the mad woman taking hundreds of photographs through the window!

Driving past the next morning there were a few more cubs outside the den, equally curious about the vehicles stopping to have a look at them.

Steenbok
Zebra

African Jacana

At Lake Panic this Grey Heron had caught the most enormous fish just before I arrived.  He didn't seem to know what to do with it and sadly eventually dropped it back in the water.  It was just too big for that narrow neck.  He was immediately on the lookout for another catch.

Hyenas and vultures eying each other warily whilst feeding on a buffalo carcass.
These two were fighting over a twig found in the puddle!

The only lush grass is in the dry river beds.  Impala, Kudu and Waterbuck.

I have already booked for next year!
